Ben Gartland is an Australian film director of commercials, motion arts installations and entertainment for some of the world's most trusted brands.

Ben Gartland is Founder and Creative Director of BENGAR and Spacesuit&Co, overseeing creative, art and production of Film, Entertainment, Advertising, and Digital Screen projects. Leading teams of talented creatives and production professionals for over 20-years, he has created award-winning work for some of the world's most trusted brands.

Ben's creative direction is human, visual and authentic. It is this fine metering, which has made him a specialist in picture making and storytelling with an unscripted voice. With a 'show, don't tell' approach, Ben has become a leading authority for brands to connect with audiences, improve perception and get results.

In Australia, Ben has a foundation with marquee clients, such as The Australian Ballet, Australia Post, AGL, Mirvac, GPT, Telstra, National Australia Bank, ANZ and Transurban. Internationally, he has created campaigns for Ferrari, Sony, Hana Bank and Unilever. In 2021, Ben wrote, produced, and directed 'Advancing Australia', a 12-part TV series starring Guy Pearce for Channel Ten.

Since 2009, Ben has been awarded with many international awards for his work, including a Gold Hugo, the top prize at the Chicago International Film Festival (Intercom), the Gold Midas in New York, twice a finalist for Best Director at the New York Festivals Film & TV Awards. More recently, he was awarded the 2023 Global Digital Signage Award in Barcelona for Creative Direction in Public Art.

Ben is a Grand Jury member of the New York Festivals Film and TV Awards and Midas Awards in New York, and member of the Australian Directors Guild. His goal is to create more engaging relationships and deepen conversations with audiences, through better storytelling and new media experiences.
